Sadly new abilities can only be gained from my old nemesis: skill trees. Ranger form opens up new abilities and increased health. It's kinda like Viewtiful Joe but the power stays on! Human form, you have very limited abilities and health. You begin in human form and begin to fill your power meter, by taking down various enemies until you can morph into your Ranger form. It follows a similar formula from the SNES game now that I think about it. However if you don't know what a Megazord is, you'll play this once and instantly forget about it! But gameplay is what we truly care about (unless you're IGN) and if you've ever played the PR games from the 90's you know roughly what to expect. Geez, Zedd! I know Rita fucked up TWO BOSS FIGHTS but we're jumping the gun a bit aren't we?įor Power Ranger fans, they'll enjoy it. I presumed Rita Repulsa would've been the big bad until the very end of the game, or be in it for the long-haul, yet Lord Zedd shows up and takes over in level 3. A better idea would be keeping him as a recurring mid boss, then joins the good guys once you've beaten the game. We get the build up for Green Ranger early on in Level 2 and he's instantly dealt with and a good guy by Level 3. If we count the CC segments as levels then it's 36! Not that I was expecting Red Dead Redemption levels of depth from a fucking Power Rangers game of all things, but there is no excuse for a franchise with this much lore at it's disposal to produce a game this short!Īdding to the short time frame, the game has this need to rush into things.
If we count the acts as their own stage then the game is rocking a rather weak 18 levels. Mega Battle gives you 6 chapters, all broken down into 3 acts. Now say Castle Crashers, a superior side scroller (and current king of the genre) gives you hours of content and 12 chapters to beat, all broken down into sub sections. While entertaining, the overall campaign has some serious length issues. That line needs to be thrown back to the 1980's where it belongs! Rita: I can smell your goody-goodiness from here! While the nods, winks and fan service was amusing, you can really tell this is a product of it's time. The villains all have cosmetic changes, such as Lord Zedd seems to be in a costume as opposed to bare flesh, and Rita's rocking some Nikki Benz titties. The characters themselves all look and feel as I remember them.
